Shell control characters rendering in Kakoune

Hi.

I was wondering if I could get Kakoune to render shell control characters, such as colours, like terminals do? When I acquire command output through sh into register and paste them, Kak shows these control characters as gibberish.

I followed this recipe: Equivalent of vim's :read command?

I am trying to achieve more notebook like document rather than regular text file. I’d like to use external shell commands from Kak within a document view instead of calling into a shell in separate window. These external commands, such as diff or ls, use colour and graphical characters which are useful part of their output that I’d like to retain.

Take a look at kak-ansi plugin.

Splendid. Thank you. It works just like I imagined.
